Hawks Track Wins Conference Championship
The York County Hawks Men’s Track & Field team made history this weekend, capturing the program’s first-ever Yankee Small College Conference Championship at the AIC Invitational in Springfield, Massachusetts. In just a short time since the program’s launch, the Hawks have continued to raise the standard—and on Saturday, they officially climbed to the top of the conference.
The Hawks were fueled by a complete team effort, with points coming from all areas of the meet. Gavin Sampson delivered another strong distance performance with a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters, while the Hawks also saw major contributions in the sprints, jumps, and relays throughout the day. Sampson and Freshman Sprinter Landin Napolitano were both named to the YSCC All Conference Team after the meet, while first year Head Coach Cam Meserve was named the YSCC Coach of the Year.
"This is a team award" said Coach Meserve. "This belongs to every coach on the staff and every guy that showed up every day to put the work in. There is no better feeling than having all of that pay off in the biggest meet of the season. We have a great foundation here and I'm so excited for what comes next."
Conference champions. School history. Hawks on top.
