Hawks set 13 PR's at Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet
FITCHBURG, Mass. — The York County Community College Track & Field program delivered a strong early-season performance on April 4 at the The Jim Sheehan Invitational, highlighted by four school records, multiple scoring performances, and a wave of personal bests across the roster.
Leading the way for the Hawks was first year Landin Napolitano, who broke the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.23 seconds while also earning an 8th-place finish. In the throws, Owen Bourque set a new program mark in the shot put with a throw of 10.23 meters.
On the women’s side, Tiffany Souliere had a standout day, setting two school records in the sprints. She clocked 13.63 seconds in the 100 meters and followed it up with a 29.25 performance in the 200 meters, continuing her strong progression this season.
The Hawks also saw key scoring contributions, including Gedeao Buanza, who placed 8th in the 400-meter hurdles.
YCCC showcased depth in the 4x400-meter relay, with two teams finishing in the top six. The team of Gedeao Buanza, Gavin Sampson, Phil Libby, and Presence Tshiamala placed 5th, while the team of Landin Napolitano, Arthur Bahuze, Xavier Pineau, and Gavin Nicholson secured a 6th-place finish.
Beyond the top finishes, the meet marked a significant step forward for the program as numerous athletes recorded personal or season-best performances. Those athletes included Rachel Goodwin, Sophia Bell-Pifferrer, Ryenn Baker, Presence Tshiamala, Phil Libby, Gavin Nicholson, Carly Coker, Gavin Sampson, Tiffany Souliere, Landin Napolitano, Owen Bourque, Gedeao Buanza, and Arthur Bahuze.
“This was a great early-season meet for us,” said Head Coach Cameron Meserve. “These results reflect the daily commitment of our athletes and the culture of support we’ve built as a team.”
