YCCC Announces The Launch Of Women's Volleyball in Fall 2026
York County Community College Athletics is excited to announce the launch of Women's Volleyball in 2026!
"As we continue to grow our athletics department and expand our offerings, this is the perfect time to add the fastest growing sport in New England," said Zack Robinson, Director of Athletics at YCCC. "The popularity of this sport has skyrocketed over the last few years, and I'm so excited that we're going to be able to give young women in our community the opportunity to continue their education while pursuing their passion for the game they love."
Launching volleyball into the YSCC for the Hawks will be the inagural head coach, Deborah Peabody.
Coach Peabody brings 14 years of coaching experience at the club and high school levels, and she has built a strong reputation for developing athletes with high standards, a team-first mindset, and a clear focus on growth. Deb had this to say about her new position at the college:
“I’m thrilled to take on the role of Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at YCCC! This is an incredible opportunity to build a program from the ground up. We intend to build a program that not only focuses on athletic excellence but also empowers young women to grow personally. My vision is to create a fun and inclusive environment where players can challenge themselves, develop their skills and forge lasting friendships. Together, we’ll work hard, celebrate teamwork and resilience, and make every practice and match a memorable experience that inspires each athlete to reach their fullest potential – both on and off the court.”
Coach Peabody currently coaches 603 United Volleyball in New Hampshire, working with athletes ages 14–18 and helping multiple players earn opportunities to compete at the Division II and Division III college levels. She also serves as an assistant coach at Farmington High School, where she has helped guide the program to major competitive milestones, including a recent state championship appearance.
"We’re excited to have Coach Peabody leading the charge into Women’s Athletics at YCCC," says Robinson "Her energy, experience, and passion for athlete development make her a great fit for what we’re building. She's going to be an excellent culture fit and a great addition to our community. I can't wait to see what she does."
The Hawks intend to play their home matches at the Sanford Memorial Gymnasium. Any prospective student athlete who's interested in learning more about the program can fill out a Recruit Me form here!
