ESports Debuts First Live Broadcast With A Big Win!

After wheeling a streaming station to the second floor of the Pratt & Whitney building, YCCC’s first-year student casters Justin Pounders & Elijah Brown successfully broadcasted the first fully commentated YCCC Esports match! The lights were not to bright for YCCC as they came in locked and loaded for the Wednesday night showdown.

A strong opening for map one lead to YCCC taking the first point with little contest from Akron as we repelled their repeated attacks. Akron stepped up in a big one on the second point of map one, immediately contesting the point to 99% completion. As they have done all year YCCC ignored their impending loss and pressed the attack, recapturing the point. After again repelling multiple Akron attacks, YCCC took map one 1-0.

YCCC kept the moment heading into map two with a strong defense side that only allowed Akron to advance around half the map. Once the payload was handed over to YCCC they kept marching and refused to stop. Pushing the payload past Akrons mark, taking map two and pushing the series to 2-0.

On the brink of elimination Akron stepped up in a major way. Behind a nearly unstoppable Peni Parker, Akron was able to take map three despite a strong YCCC last stand, and a forced overtime that almost let us back in. Akron kept the series alive 2-1.

What would end up being the final map of the series was anything but easy. On the attack first, Akron finally broke through YCCC’s defense and pushed their payload all 3 points. As they had done all night, a little bit of pressure did not break a stout YCCC attack, and we met Akron’s three points with three of our own, forcing another overtime. YCCC’s defense would not break twice in one night, as they held Akron’s overtime attack to zero points, keeping the objective in the attacking team’s spawn. York quickly found a Mantis shaped whole in Akron’s defense, quickly executing one of Akron’s two support player, tilting the balance of power in our favor. YCCC would take map four, winning the series 3-1.
