The Men's and Women's Track & Field teams are headed to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete in the YSCC Championships Invitational / USCAA National Championship Invitational on Saturday, April 29th. A very successful season will culminate there. Here is a look back at the Outdoor Track & Field meets this spring.
Both the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams competed in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Track Meet at Fitchburg State University on April 8, 2023. In the overall standings, the men placed 15th and the women placed 13th. Our Hawks had a great showing with many record-breaking performances.
Starting with the men's side, we would like to congratulate our athletes on their record-setting performances. During the 400-meter hurdles, Michael Crosby set a new record of 1.03.50 seconds. In addition, Brendan Mather set two records in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.64 and the 1500 meters with a time of 4:41.13. In the 3000 meters steeplechase, Jack Kaszubinski set a record of (12:13.70). With a score of 9.57 meters, Coley Hatt added to the team’s success with an outdoor shot-put record. Last but not least, Treshaun Brown set a record in the high jump with a score of 1.65 meters. Additionally, Treshaun ran a time of 11.98 in the Men's 100 meters.
We would also like to congratulate our athletes on the women’s side as we saw record-breaking performances by Izze Gray and Amy Stanek. Izze set an outdoor record in the discus throw with a score of (25.59M) and the hammer throw with a score of (29.86M). In the 1500 meters, Amy Stanek ran a time of 5:33.26 and in the 5000 meters, she ran a time of 21:16.09.
The Hawks competed at the Monk's Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, April 15th. The meet took place at Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Standish, Maine. Once again, YCCC school records were set or broken. The men’s team finished 8th which was the highest of any of the Yankee Small College Conference teams. Michael Crosby, Brendan Mather, and Jack Kaszubinski broke records established at the Jim Sheehan Memorial. Vinnie Giannetti set a school record in the discus, throwing 26.44 meters and Treshaun Brown set a school record of 1.75 M in the high jump. The women’s team finished 14th with Amy Stanek and Izze Gray setting school records in the 800-meter and the discus respectively.
