Masse No-Hits Quincy College as Hawks Take Two In Season Opener
The Hawks started their 2025 season in dominant fashion, securing back-to-back victories against Quincy College in an opening day doubleheader on Saturday. The Hawks' offense exploded for a combined 28 runs, while the pitching staff limited a potent Quincy offense, holding them to 4 runs across two games.
Game 1 Highlights:
The Hawks wasted no time jumping out to an early lead in game one, hanging 13 runs on the board in the first three innings, giving starting pitcher James Erickson plenty of breathing room to work with.
The offense was led by a pair of Captains - second year players Caden Petit and Jack Sullivan. Petit reached base four times, picking up two htis and swiping a pair of bases. Sullivan added two hits, including a bases clearing triple in the second inning, en-route to a five-RBI game.
James Erickson picked up the Win on the mound, his fourth of the 24-25 season, allowing just two earned runs and picking up three strikeouts.
Game 2 Highlights:
Another offensive expllosion in game two went somewhat overshadowed by a dominant pitching performance out of Maksim Masse. Maks spun the first no-hitter in school history, striking out five while allowing just two walks. '
The offense was once again led by leadoff hitter Caden Petit, who went 4-4 with a walk and three RBI's.
First year player Jack Mattox added a two-run home run in the second inning, the first longball of the Spring for the Hawks.
Looking Ahead:
It's a busy week for the Hawks, who continue to be road warriors until their home opener in April. The team travels to Northern Essex CC on Tuesday night, then to Quinsigamond CC on Thursday for a pair of non-conference matchups before resuming conference play on Saturday at NHTI.
