9th Inning Rally Lifts Hawks Past Quinsigamond CC: 14-13
A wild afternoon in Worcester ended with a ninth-inning rally and a Hawks win.
Trailing 11-4 in the 6th inning, YCCC scored one in the 6th, six in the 7th and three in the 9th to edge Quinsigamond CC (NJCAA) by a score of 14-13.
Six different Hawks drove in runs, but Jack Sullivan led the way with his second five-rbi day of the Spring, including driving in the tying and winning run in the 9th. Sullivan had two hits on the day, as each of the first five Hawks hitters had multi-hit days.
"I love the way our offense is clicking right now" said Coach Zack Robinson. "We're swinging the bats really well. Hitting with patience, taking extra bases, trusting the guy behind us... That's our brand of baseball."
James Erickson picked up his conference-leading fifth win of the season, throwing two scoreless innings to end the game.
YCCC heads to St. Joe's on Wednesday before a string of 10 conference games in 10 days - starting with a road trip to Auburn to play CMCC on Friday.
