Hawks Race in Runnin' Monks Invitational
STANDISH, ME—The York County Community College Hawks participated in the Runnin’ Monks Invitational on Saturday, October 9th. It was their third race of the inaugural season.
STANDISH, ME—The York County Community College Hawks participated in the Runnin' Monks Invitational on Saturday, October 9th. It was their third race of the inaugural season. The women kicked off the day at 11:00a.m. on a beautifully crisp fall day. For freshman Maggie Dallaire (Biddeford, ME) and Libby Papciak (North Berwick, ME), it was their first ever 6K race. Both women held their ground and finished strong. Dallaire finished with a time of 35:04.5 while Papciak finished at 41:30.7.
The men's race was a typical 8K. Both Kenny Richard (Gorham, ME) and Brendan Mather (York, ME) have two prior 8K's this season under their belts. Both had picture perfect finishes outpacing their most immediate competition. Richard finished with a time of 34:35.3 while Mathers set a PR of 35:27.2.
The Hawks will be back in action at the Yankee Small College Conference championship hosted by Vermont Tech on Saturday, October 30th.
